Countdown to the Fall
semester
Things have changed. BMCC remains an open access and supportive community with rolling admissions,
but our deadlines have changed for this Fall.
In an effort to ensure students have enough time to prepare for classes, select the schedules and
classes that best support their needs, and move to college enrollment confidently, we have tightened
our deadlines.
August 1st was the application deadline and all documents must be submitted by August 11th for
students to be able to enroll in the traditional 15-week semester. Not to worry, we are offering
Express Sessions, and it’s not too late for students to stack classes with their 15-week session or
opt to take up to 9 credits through the Express Sessions.
Don’t wait until it’s too late, if your students have not already done so, submit their documents
now at transcripts@bmcc.cuny.edu

admissions application, get an update about their status, have a transfer credit evaluation
completed on the spot for already submitted transcripts, get advised and registered for classes,
or review their financial aid
application, please attend one of the registration activities.

BMCC Forging Relationships and Creating
Pathways
During the month of July, BMCC Office of Admissions partnered with the Office of Student Pathways
to facilitate professional development for hundreds of school leaders, educators, and counselors.
Over a two-week period, equity-minded teams shared their plight in supporting youth throughout the
pandemic as well as exchanged best practices in addressing evolving needs on both institutional and
individual levels.
BMCC Office of Admissions is fortunate to be thought partners in the important and ongoing work of
building capacity and empowering youth. The insights gleaned from this experience will inform how
BMCC will approach the upcoming recruitment cycle and may serve as the impetus for new initiatives.
New Programming at BMCC
Do you have students with academic developmental needs that could benefit from additional financial
and academic supports? If so, CUNY is newly sponsoring the Jumpstart Program that will also be
coming to you on BMCC’s campus.
The Jumpstart Program is a collaboration between CUNYStart/ MathStart and the Accelerated Study in
Associate Program (ASAP). This program was developed to provide guidance to students who have been
recommended to take co-requisite classes. A course structure in which students take both academic
developmental programing with a credit bearing course.
Why might this be a good fit for your student? Students with developmental needs, can receive
targeted program instruction aimed at raising proficiency in math, reading, and/or writing. This
program will align students with early access to ASAP (which is coveted for their academic and
financial supports to students and helping students to graduate on time).
Through this collaborative program, students can be eligible for scholarships, textbook coverage,
monthly MetroCards, supplemental tutoring, workshops, seminars, and so much more.
If you are interested in connecting your students with the tools to their success, please reach
out to mathstart@bmcc.cuny.edu

Need Space to Connect with your BMCC Students on Campus?
|
BMCC recognizes for programs that offer post-enrollment support services to their students,
space to meet with those students on campus can be a challenge. As we aim to continue to
facilitate connection, we want to address one of those challenges by providing office space
where you can speak with your students one-on-one.
For specific availability of the office spaces, please reach out to Maketa Barber at mbarber@bmcc.cuny.edu.
